Beauty Trends Of 2017

Beauty Trends of 2017

As we move comfortably into 2017, at Innovations Beauty we feel it’s important to discuss some of the beauty trends of 2016 and those set to be big this year.

Autumn/Winter 2016

Following the crowd was out, individualism was in (although not sure how individual an actual trend can be)! Here’s some of the trends made big by the catwalk:

  • Dark Pouts: Definitely all the rage with deep purples (berry tones) and reds (rouge noir) proving extremely popular. High shine versions of these colours were also acceptable.
  • Graphic Liner: Very much made a comeback! Variations included a clean angled appearance or slightly smudged. Either was acceptable in offering the perfect autumn/winter look for 2016. Couple this with the dark pout, the results were killer.
  • Skin that Glowed: Used correctly, highlighter was the way forward in the plight to achieve the perfect look. Cheekbones and nose people, cheekbones and nose. A good spray tan is a great option too.
  • Glitter: Never underestimate the importance of glitter, ideal for individualism each and every time. Burberry made glitter teardrops the look desired by many whilst experimenting with pastel pink glittery eyeshadows offered contrast to the graphic liner. Use together or apart – both achieved a striking appearance.
  • Imperfect Lashes: We can hear the gasps from afar, but yes, lash imperfections were all the rage last year. Length and volume was embraced in sections with colours ranging from electric pink to blue as sported by Emporio Armani. A slight variations on popularities of the 80’s.
  • Flushed Cheeks: Pale out, pink in. It was a time to allow your girly side out, perfect for complementing glowing skin and a dark pout.

So that’s the catwalk, how about right here in the salon? What did we notice as popular when it came to beauty treatments? Aside from the always sought after manicures and nail treatments we began to see a steady rise in both the Dermaroller Facials and SHR Permanent Hair Reduction with numbers steadily increasing across autumn and winter:

  • Dermaroller Facials: Amazing results without undergoing surgery, this micro needling treatment saw our appointment book filled rather quickly from September onwards last year. The treatment is cost effective in its ability to improve skin texture, pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The results, brighter looking skin. We continue to fill appointment slots throughout January and February this year.
  • SHR Permanent Hair Reduction: Acting as the latest technology and treatment for permanent hair removal, this increase in custom became apparent quite quickly due to its non invasive technique. The ability to eliminate hair without causing any pain or skin damage and the fact this can be done in a very short space of time appealed to many of our existing customers. In addition we seemed to be attracting new customers specifically for this treatment with many of them travelling quite a distance. Visitors are showing no signs of slowing and with many bookings already in the diary for 2017 we are already confidently concluding that this will be a ‘go to’ beauty trend for many in the North east this year.

And now back to the catwalk. How is 2017 shaping up?

  • Contouring, Contouring & more Contouring: In case you didn’t get that, it’s all about the contouring! But before we reach for the brushes in a panic, let’s tone it down a notch. Whilst individualism still holds a place, we no longer have to be so aggressive with it. Soft, strobe like accents are ideal. Just a small dab of highlighter will do.
  • Wine Stained Lips: So again, not as bold as last year but still working with deep colours. Deep mauve and pink are set to be in this spring so why not try them out for size?
  • Soft Brows: Stencils are out, soft shapes are in. The art of brow styling will remain very much in as far as treatments go but when it comes to the clear cut lines and stencil shapes, these are nearing their end.
  • Smoky Eyes: Keeping with prominent eye liner, the smokey effect is to be built up with dark colours whilst winter continues. Spring/summer will see lighter colours coming into play. Couple this with wine stained lips and you have the perfect chic look.
  • Hair: We didn’t mention hair for 2016 but apparently the soft curls that made an appearance in winter last year are set to be replaced with a messy mass of large curls! Get your moose and diffusers out ladies! It’s that time again!

So there you have it. Beauty trends of 2016 and those set to come about this year. How many of them did you entertain and are you keeping up with the styles so far? Remember, for all the latest tips and information from Innovations Beauty, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
