Top 5 Hair Removal Methods
We have seen beauty treatments advance dramatically over the years and as a leading Stockton based salon we have made it our business to keep up with the industry, ensuring the treatments we deliver to clients are of not only the highest standards but are kind and considerate to the skin. Having discussed SHR Permanent Hair Removal in previous blogs, we are going to look at how this revolutionary method blows some of those traditional practices out of the water and to investigate this in some depth, we are going to take it as far as ‘bathroom behaviour’ when it comes to hair removal!
Shaving (Yaaaawn)!
A common and popular method granted. Over the years we have spoken to many women have had undertaken leg shaving, armpit shaving, crevice shaving and more with some having to partake daily. Ok, so this method is fine. It’s proven and it works. But for how long? A potentially frustrating and time consuming task with the expense of razors, let’s do some quick maths. On average consumers will pay £3 for a pack of 5 razors. If two packs per month are purchased (potentially more but we’ll go for two), and we look at an absolute minimum of 30 years, total cost attributed to the razor is a whopping £2,160! Now let’s look at timescales. Again, for argument’s sake, we will assume the shaving ritual takes place three times a week (growth depending) and takes a minimum of fifteen minutes. Over 30 years that’s 1,080 hours of your life. Now that’s dedication! Just think of how you could make use of some of that time should shaving no longer be an issue!
Ok, what’s next on the list? Let’s go for:
Hair Removal Creams or Depilatory Creams
A fair option but definitely not the most effective, especially when it comes to a coarse type of hair. They are easy to apply and required to be left for just a few moments before taking off. Hair removal typically occurs at or slightly below skin level with growth occurring between one and three days from application. So when compared to shaving there is no real difference when it comes to timescales here. Looks like you would still be spending 1,080 hours of your life over a thirty year period whilst indulging in this method. No pain is involved yet you may notice a slight tingling of the skin. This option is not advised for those with a sensitive skin disposition.
Where to now?
Waxing! (Ouchy)!
A bit of a sting perhaps but most definitely a worthy contender when it comes to hair removal. A popular service at our salon, waxing is ideal as it removes the hair from the root with re-growth taking anywhere between 3-6 weeks. The procedure is quick and works well when there is plenty of hair for the wax to stick to. Over time, hair becomes finer and the process easier to manage. Legs feel extremely smooth and the entire process is over in minutes meaning you can already begin to plan what you will do with those extra minutes you now have available! A walk, read a book, take up skydiving or perhaps just some time out to contemplate your next move.
Now for the big boys….
Laser Treatment
Looking for something a little more permanent? With touch ups required as little as once every six to twelve months, you now have all the time in the world to play with! Laser treatment works by destroying the root of the hair with a light and is usually recommended for dark hairs. A total of around six to twelve sessions are required. So far so good right? Let’s move onto the pain factor. Likened to a rubber band being snapped against the skin, the amount of pain endured will pretty much depend on your threshold. It comes back down to the aged old saying ‘you have to suffer for beauty’. But do you……?
NO!
