Normal Life Returns!
As we resume ‘normal life’ and the festivities of Christmas and New Year start to become a distant memory, it soon becomes apparent that perhaps the time off enjoyed in December wasn’t quite as relaxing as it should have been (nothing a full body aromatherapy massage can’t fix)! Whilst Christmas is a wonderful time of year, it can be a stressful one. Shopping becomes a more regular activity, gifts to purchase and wrap, ensuring cousin Amy twice removed doesn’t go without! Then there’s the cooking which is a mammoth task in itself. A way above average meal that depending on how many you are cooking for takes triple the amount of time a usual Sunday roast would take. Getting the table exactly right, sticking to traditions, the washing up, the social gatherings, the excessive amount of food and drink consumed – the list goes on!
Throughout all of the December excitement what we tend not to realise is the effects this all has on our body, making it the perfect time for fad diets to make an appearance. Add lack of food into the otherwise mix of over-indulging and the results are added strain. Back to work, children back at school and busy schedules is quite a shock to the system so why not take some time out for you? And it doesn’t have to be a lot of time – just a small amount to relax and take stock.
Owning the ability to de-stress is fundamental in today’s busy times and should definitely hold some priority on the ever growing ‘to do’ list. So what exactly are the benefits of massage?
- Reduced Muscle Tension: Perfect for helping the body and mind to relax
- Improved Circulation: Nothing encourages blood flow better than a gentle manipulation of the muscles
- Stress Hormone Reduction: We’ve mentioned the stresses attached to Christmas and how we’re thrown back into the depths of ‘normal life’
- Reduced Anxiety and Depressed: A major player when it comes to massage, ideal for helping with stress and anxiety by allowing the body to fully relax
- Heightened Mental Alertness: In allowing your body some time out this gives you a new lease of life to be more alert and aware of what’s going on around you
- Improved Skin Tone: Massage increases cell nutrition which in turn encourages skin regeneration
- Stimulation of the Lymphatic System: The lymphatic system serves an extremely important purpose and with massage can help clear up sluggish tissues that can cause swelling
The above list represents merely a small number of the benefits attached to massage. Adding aromatherapy essential oils into the mix only strengthens such positive attributes. Specific oils will help to further alleviate stress and tension leading to an all-round amazing experience for your body and your mind.
The detox elements of this treatment cannot be ignored. Whilst focusing upon deep tissue, this particular type of massage will focus upon three things:
- Muscles
- Lymphatic System
- Mind
Relaxing the muscles means that in turn your mind will too become at ease (and remember you are allowed this time – it’s pretty much essential to your health and wellbeing). Blood flow is increased helping the lymphatic system to do its job better.
